Just great! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Tom I stole this comment from another forum. I'm sure there are rebuttals, but it pretty well sums up my thoughts: "Just yesterday I was looking at my iPhone thinking "Hmmm, I wish this thing didn't fit in my pocket and couldn't make phone calls." Then I looked over to my netbook and couldn't help but feel it would benefit from losing the keyboard and being made of 50% glass. Finally apple gives me what I wish." Dan (Who still really likes actual books. My own little Luddism, I guess.) When I first heard about it, I thought, "Well, Jobs has a brain tumor, too, I guess...about the size of a Newton..." *But then, I got to thinking about it (and Ken's burning desire somewhat confirms it) - it really is appropriately named...it's just the thing for drippy ****s...and it certainly ought to, um, dampen the used market... Just what I want - a $600USD cutting board that I can read a cookbook on.... Damn, where did I put my decoder ring?? Tom p.s. have fun in the woods! No doubt... IAC, it's been a good season, both in terms of harvest and plain ol' good times. And now, it's not only Carnival time, but Sunday is gonna be, well, interesting. We were up in the country for the Vikings game, but had friends at the game and the post-game party. It was like Carnival - complete with tit-showing-for-beads, even... We're going over to NO tomorrow for the first big weekend of Carnival as well as the Super Bowl (we figure it might be a once-in-a-lifetime thing...). We'll lift a glass to y'all and ROFF while there... We've got about 10 couples coming over and one guy said he'd take of the booze - it took the delivery guy 3 trips with a handtruck and two trips in the elevator to get it all up, so I suspect we'll be lifting glasses to March 12, 2011 and the fact that "hey, you know, that's a damned nice color for a kitchen wall..." by time Monday morning...well, afternoon-ish, anyway...rolls around... My head already hurts, R PS - for those without decoder rings, "going over to NO and getting snot-slinging, rip-roaring, 'excuse me, Ossifer, I'm not as thinked up as you **** I am' nailing Jello to window drunk" is covert code for "going over to NO and getting snot-slinging, rip-roaring, 'excuse me, Ossifer, I'm not as thinked up as you **** I am' nailing Jello to a window drunk" |

Preferring real books doesn't make one a Luddite.....well, unless one takes the perceptions of the rest of the world seriously, I guess. I've got books that might as well be measured in terms of tonnage as volumes for all the difference it makes. But I've got nothing against electronic media. I just don't understand what all the hype and excitement is about; I could, and did, download books onto my little Sony PDA 8 or more years ago. Very handy for emergency reading material.....but nothing new or terribly exciting. Hell, pocket sized books have been around for centuries.. giles |
