@z14g2000cwz.googlegroups.com:

Ok, lets see. How correct are you. Why would I give a gnats ass about
traffic for advertisers if we do not charge for advertising?? Hmm
sounds kind of stupid doesn't it. Or didn't you read this
http://www.hookandsinker.com/advertising.php It's all over the site,
menus and everywhere, maybe you should have tried looking before you
opened your pie hole moron.

Boy, that's a whole bunch different from the pdf that came up earlier
this afternoon. Fortunately, I've posted excerpts from that file on ROFB
for all to see.

So, let's review. we haven't seen any spam come out of your server for
almost a week.

As of about an hour ago, You no longer claim usenet posts as site
activity to attract advertisers. As of this morning, you now show
284,021 posts on the usenet sites, and a total of 32 posts on the rest of
the fishing discussions. You show about 175 posts in fishing reports--
at least 100 of which Fishman seems to have boosted from some
unattributed RSS feed. You've cleared out most, if not all, of the
copyright violations in the "articles" section. You've gotten rid of the
disclaimer saying you're not responsible for what's posted, as by your
web hosts' user agreement, you are.

All you've got left to do is attribute the source of the 158,000 posts in
"boats and repairs", the 10,000 in "marine electronics," and Fishman's
fishing reports (a quick google report suggests this is fintalk.com--
looks like a fine site!). Also, add a privacy policy you adhere to, as
is fairly standard for every site that solicits personal info (at least
those worthy of receiving personal info). It would be nice if you could
stop referring to usenet posters who don't use your site as guests, but
that might be a limitation of vBulletin.

As a general rule of thumb, if you haven't generated the content
yourself, it's never wrong to attribute it to the place you got it. That
doesn't always make it right to boost content, but many people,
especially those who don't count hits, don't mind this too much so long
as you provide a link back. Always drop them a line and ask for
permission whenever possible.

Essentially, you've made most of the changes I've recommended, and come
further into compliance with your user agreement. It would have been a
whole lot simpler if one of your earliest posts, you would have said
"Boy, I didn't realize I was doing anything wrong. I'm sorry, and here's
what I'm doing to bring things into line", but at least you're there now.
Good luck with your site, FWIW. No charge for the consulting.

Scott

He's an Internet "entrepreneur" with a totally unremarkable
and lame-assed fishing site. He has few subscribers, no
advertisers and very little traffic. The first anybody ever
heard of him and his lame-assed site was when he hijacked
some unsecured RSS feeds from a legit site and used them to
SPAM rec.outdoors.fishing.bass.

He's had his 15 minutes of infamy, he'll be leaving now.

....damned if he don't remind me of Citizen Fisherman or whatever the hell
his name was...let's see how long this dork hangs around before he is
totally cremated. I mean, Cyli really hasn't unleashed the dogs yet. Sic em
Cyli! ;-))

....don't forget to use Kenny as backup.

Maybe toady, but let's avoid the other. I'm not feeling fresh.
