particularly interested in either side of this silly argument (4 months
in a stupid war 30+ years ago doesn't make you more or less fit to be
president IMHO), but Oliphant came off as a condescending liberal
elitist. While it may make those of you on the far left feel good about
yourselves I doubt it helped Kerry with the centrist vote.

I had a friend who served less than a month in Vietnam and got to come home
in a bag. The lessons learned in Vietnam cost. Just in case you are still
capable of learning, all things equal, combat vets are a tad more thoughtful
than blowhards before they ask others to die. If you don't think that kind
of maturity is a valuable quality, then you are a hopeless ignorant little
****, and Blowhard Bush is your guy.

I couldn't have said that anywhere near as well...
