I've settled on Newspro for a news reader because it combines posts
from several servers and I don't seem to loose anything. The problem
is that there's no spel cheker.

Please learn to tolerate these errors.

Thanks,

Chas

If it's called "sil" (or something like that), yup.

Does anyone make or sell Garum these days? That might be the perfect
condiment for fermented Baltic herring?

Wolfgang, can I ask whether you have received the package or not?

Not yet.

It left Sweden the on the 11th of December.

I hope it isn't fresh fruit.

Wolfgang

I hope it isn't lutefisk (Do they eat that in Sweden?). It'll never

make
it past Homeland Security.

On the other hand, if it IS lutefisk.....or grits, or beets, or
haggis, for example....then it really doesn't matter how long it takes
to arrive.

Wolfgang
um.....or plutonium, for that matter.

Talking about traditional national recipes, ever had fermented Baltic
herring?
I is a Swedish speciality with a long tradition.
There was this Brittish TV cook by the name Floyd who said that it was the
second worst thing he ever tasted in any of the available continents, the
worst was some kind of larvae. He came to the conclusion that the only way
to eat it was together with a lot of Vodka......which isn't all that far
from how we eat it ;-)
Don't worry about the package being stopped in customs, as long as the guy
checking the package is a law obiding citizen it should be OK.
Strange though that it should take so long.
(And yes we eat "lutfisk")

/Roger

I have always wished I had a collection of the most ridiculous signs I

have
ever seen. Among them:

--a beautiful, hand-carved wooden sign in rural Maine, obviously a labor

of
love that took a long, careful time to do, advertising "Fishing Lisenses".
--a nicely painted sign for a signpainter, which said "J. Crawford,
Signpianter"
--in Accra, Ghana, where everything is referenced to the bible: "Holy of
Holies Radiator Service"

and my favorite, outside a ritzy restaurant in Riga, Latvia: "Tonights
special: roasted chicken spit"

--riverman

The bars in Taipei in 1969 had urinals with normal water valves instead of
the flushing mechanisms we have here. Actual sign I saw the "To stop
drip turn cock to right"

O.K. folks, I just have to vent. Been listenin' to a lot of CNN and NPR,
and if I hear another journalist mis-use the word "whether", by saying
whether or not- I will scream!!! Aren't these folks supposed to know
better?!

Good'n Mike
The Fischer Building is a landmark that has a special historic significance
to me, having grown up in Detroit.

Snakefiddler- I still believe the light on the top of the Fischer Building
is Rudolph's nose!!!
Snakefiddler- Look it's getting closer....... )
