Default Swim Baits Down East?

Anyone out East having success with western-style swim baits? I remember
Moe leaving a pack of mini-sized shad look-alikes in my boat...

Yes, but don't tell anyone else, Ok? I sometimes cast and retrieve
them like a crank, sometimes I let them fall to the bottom and hop
them back to the boat.

A guy I partnered up with once this year at our club was using them on
Priest (small ones) but had no bites that day. He was one of the original
members from the 70's, and told me that he'd done well with them in the
earlier days of the lake. He was also the same guy that showed me how to
troll for bass too, so I'm still kinda questionable about his methods... I
did pick up a beautiful crappie that way though! Yumm...

I use them for stripers in the river and they kill. I did catch a few LM's
on them but with limited success.
