Still thinking a good thought, R and K Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts:-) The little guy is putting up a fight. He has had a couple of occurrences of lung hemorrhaging- their little lungs are so underdeveloped at this age its very difficult to balance the ventilator against the babies blood pressure. They had one occurrence Saturday and got it under control quickly- His Dr. said this happens in one in 30 or so cases, Daniel's was relatively easy to correct. Yesterday they gave him something to start closing up the hole in the heart between the chambers ( natural occurrence I'm told- and they generally close up naturally) the meds caused a drop in platelet count, raised his blood pressure and hemorrhaged his lungs - so they stopped the heart meds and fixed the lungs. The did a cranial ultrasound and all looks well there- no signs of hemorrhage. The nurse said its the start of a long roller coaster ride - good days--bad days. Daniel's mother, Sarah, is recovering- apparently the pre-eclampsia was serious. Her systems are beginning to return to normal- she may be released from the hospital tomorrow or Wednesday. jh |
