My bait casting reel sticks on the worm gear won't move back and
forth to allow the line to go out right when casting. I can get it to move when I put pressure on the line as I wind it in. Wondering if there are any GOOD books I might get out of a library that show how to repair reels. Any information is appreciated. Tight lines to all. nlcatfish |

Inside, you'll find a small cylindrical part called a Level Wind Pawl. I'd be willing to bet quite a bit that this part is worn. It's quite common and I replaced one today in one of my Abu Garcia 6500's. See if there's a reel repair business in your area. Tell the person there what kind of reel you have and that you need a pawl. Chances are, you'll have the part for less than $5.00, and the repair only takes a minute. If there's not a reel repair business in your area, do an internet search on reel repair. You'll be able to buy the part easily. -- Steve @ OutdoorFrontiers http://www.outdoorfrontiers.com G & S Guide Service and Custom Rods http://www.herefishyfishy.com |
