Default Winter Reading List

Just finished reading the latest book from William G. Tapply "Gone Fishing".

One chapter particularly worth the read deals with the eternal debate of if
you could have just so many flies, what would it be. Tis a good read and
would encourage others to buy it or get it from the library.

I've been perusing the used book stores in southern Michigan and have four
books on my table to get me through to Christmas and the next batch g

Schwiebert - "Rembrances of Rivers Past"
Tapply -"Opening Day and Other Neuroses"
Hill, Gene-"Passing a Good Time with Guns, Dogs, Fly Rods and Other Joys"
Peper & Rickhoff-"Hunting Moments of Truth"

What's on your list for the "off-season"?

Wayne

Nothing on my list that I have reason to suppose anyone else would be
interested in......no fishing.

However, you said, "I've been perusing the used book stores in southern
Michigan....."

So, you've moved already?

DeLorme's "Street Atlas USA" software is a very good reference for back
roads, etc. all through the lower 48. Easy to plan routes, compute mileage,
check coordinates, and a whole lot more. I paid about 50 bucks two years
ago. Don't know for sure how much the curent edition is, but it's probably
still about in the same range. Worth checking out, anyway.

I don't think I'd be very good at standing up to torture. Um.......you
could maybe offer me a beer.......or breakfast or something?

Wolfgang
who, contrary to public opinion perhaps, CAN be made to talk.

I agree, i have a copy on my PC, but just kind of like the CIA, there's
nothing like intelligence on the ground and Mr. Church has shared his
shortcut.

That can be arranged.

Wayne What's on your list for the "off-season"?

The last ones I read were
- Gierach: "Death, Taxes and Leaky Waders"
- Hughes: "Trout from Small Streams"
- Thomas: "Dream Fish & Road Trips: Fly-Fishing Tales from Alaska,
Montana, and Beyond"

I liked them all, in the order given above. (Well, I actually ended up
reading Hughes's book twice.)

Next items on the menu were recommended on a board I frequently visit
- "Joe Humphreys's Trout Tactics"
- Phillips: "The Technology of Fly Rods: An In-Depth Look at the
Design of the Modern Fly Rod, Its History and Its Role in Fly
Fishing"
