I sometimes fish for several days where there is no electricity to recharge
my TM battery. I need all the amp-hours I can get from a charge. I have room for two TM batteries. Any recommendations on the way to go - conventional deep cycle marine batteries, new technology batteries, 2 golf cart batteries in series, etc? Thanks in advance for any help you can give. |

The biggest batteries you can put in the space. I kill a pair of group 24s
in my little boat in a day of hard fishing. My big boat does the same to a pair of group 27s. Of course I fish in a lot of current so I am often on the pedal for hours on end. My next boat will be running a 36V with three batteries. All the guys I know running that way claim to be able to fish a couple days in a row without recharging if they have to. -- ** FREE Fishing Lures ** Weekly drawing ** Public Fishing and Boating Forums ** www.YumaBassMan.com "Craig Davis" wrote in message news ![]() I sometimes fish for several days where there is no electricity to recharge my TM battery. Without a doubt the best battery I've ever owned were a gel battery built
for wheel chairs. They were made in Germany by Sonnenschein, not cheap by any means, but they have a five year warranty. I ran the same set for five years of brutal use, and never ran them down. The second best I've found were made in california by a company named Thermo, they were oil filled, and were almost as good. I've never found a mass market battery to work very well at all. Uh, well....nowadays I grab what's on the lot and go. BUTwhen I rig my
own soon, it'll have those german tanks in it, I promise. There were several times I got trapped at some stink hole without power and ran them hard...really hard for two full days without a loss. They were amazing. I believe what does most of the cheaper batteries in is a good beating, constant big water hits just do them in, and that's it. "go-bassn" wrote in message ... Craig, without a doubt the best batteries I ever had in my boat are Optimax.
I know they cost a ton (upwards of $160 each ) but for strength and durability they get my vote. This past year some bozo talked me into a name brand that was on sale at Sam's Club. Don't get me wrong they're ok. But I could and have fished three days with a fully loaded 18' 6" Champion with those batteries and they never slowed down till the middle of that third day. When sprring time comes along, I'm replacing the new ones. -- God Bless America Josh The Bad Bear |
