They have it on ESPN2 on Sundays. This guy is obnoxious. I'd like a shot
at him. He could bring his "in your face" style down to Georgia and fish in spotted bass territory. And return home with his tail tucked between his legs. Does anyone know if Ol' Charlie Moore & Classic camp Mike Iaconelli are related? DM |

Does anyone know if Ol' Charlie Moore & Classic camp Mike Iaconelli are related? DM I don't know about beating him, but I wanted to belt him after the way he was handling fish. Sure they were dinks, but watching him take a bass by the lower jaw and flip it over his shoulder to land on the surface with a resounding "smack" after a 6 foot drop made me think of what one of the antis would have to say about fisherman in general after seeing that. I just felt like our sport is under enough pressure without televised idiocy like that. Mark --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). I wouldn't go as far as to say that Charlie's a friend of mine, but I do
know him. What you see on the ESPN show is what you get in real life. Loud, obnoxious, and (as my wife says after every time she hears him) he seems to thing everything he says is funny. I called him to bitch about the fish handling this weekend. I was not the first. To be fair, the over-the-shoulder flip of the dink was the ahole he was fishing against. But they both were awfully indifferent and dismissive in the way they handled the fish -- particularly the shorts. I noted that there was no excuse for any of the poor fish handling to make it past the cutting room. I learned that he has no control over the editing on this show. It's entirely at the discretion of the production company that works for ESPN. The company has no background in fishing. This is NOT a good idea. I actually think the concept could have been decent if handled properly (and with a different host) but the way it is now, it's pretty much a waste of a half-hour of airtime. They should stick to what they're good at, i.e., the so-called 'major' sports like football, basketball, baseball, and, ok...hockey. |

ESPN is spread way too thin
But that's just it. It's an independent production company in the bustling media center of Oklahoma that does the show, not ESPN itself I understand what you're saying, but like the director of a movie or a newscast, ESPN is ultimately responsible for what is aired on ESPN. Put another way, a general contractor has to answer to a homeowner if the painting, plumbing, or sheetrocking (his subcontractors) isn't up to par. |
