I think I want to buy the Frogg Toggs Pro-angler rain suit. Do the
FroggToggs perform as advertised? The lowest price I can find is $66.95 at EEZHOOK for the Large size plus $7.95 for the stuff bag and $5.95 shipping. Does anybody offer it for less? Thanks Craig |

I was doubtful too about buying the FT's, but I have not gotten wet yet in
the two years that I've had them! My first true test was fishing Center Hill with Warren in a blinding rainstorm. Of course, his 70mph driving wasn't helping the situation, but everywhere I was covered with the FT's, I was dry. -- Charles B. I've been watching those commercials too. Thanks, Keith |

They're suppose to be breatheable... but I've never tried Gore-Tex to make
any comments on them. I don't purposely fish in the rain, so anything more costly than the Frogg's is a little much. It's the times that I'm out and a good rain sneaks in on me is what I bought mine for. So far, no complaints! "luv2bafield" wrote in message ink.net... "Charles Summers" wrote in message ... If it is not in your consideration of features, buy the bib style pants for
more assurance of staying dry, especially if you are operating a boat, 60mph, or in a stiff wind and do not have enough hands to keep the jacket secured well enough. I will add my evaluation of value for the upper-end of the BPS rain suit with bibs. I have had no problem with two sets we use in our family. Another place that sometimes has value products is www.rei.com. It is a coop, joining will get you ~10% payback on purchases within a year period. Their Goretex parkas are especially good and give good warmth. Al Crumrine Snipped "luv2bafield" wrote in message ink.net... |

From my experience, the best combination is Bib pants with the Jacket (rather than the longer parka). What happens with the parka is that when you sit down, the bottom of it is pointed forward, and at 30 to 70 MPH, you drive a lot of rainwater up underneath the parka from the bottom. The jacket reaches down well past the top of the bibs, but not so far past your waist that the bottom opening is pointed forward instead of down. RichZ© www.richz.com/fishing |

I can tolerate heat, cold, and maybe snow... but man, I hate to be wet. Once
my hands and feet get waterlogged, I'm a worthless little cry baby. Guess that's why I hate plumbing too. I've fished in the rain... but it's just something that I can live without. -- Charles B. How breathable are they? How do they compare to Gore-Tex? I've been watching those commercials too. Thanks, Keith I am also considering FTs as: 1) I've used and even sold Gore Tex (Performance Bicycle Shop in Carrboro NC) clothing in the past and while *ok* IMO, it doesn't hold up to years of repeated use. IIRC, Gore Tex had as much to do with a special Dupont coating as it did a fabric material istself, making it vulnerable to failing (stops breathing and repelling water) after only a cleaning or two. 2) I am still waiting for the *new* Gore Tex, and that is going to be some sort of micro-fiber material. You know, the stuff in the "Nice Pants" commericals where nothing liquid sticks or stains, simply runs off, and yet is breathable from the inside. I read a piece last year on it and they touted it as the end-all be-all replacement for Gore Tex if and when it could be made into outer/rainwear. I believe the name I heard mentioned in connection with it was Nano-Tex (for the nano fibers that are the *micro-fiber* components). I think this will be the ticket as all the functionality is from the permanent fibers and not a vulnerable coating. Again, IIRC. So until Nano-Tex (or whatever its final production name will be) comes out, FTs have been what I've been eyeballing myself. I personally have quit spending on Gore Tex as no matter how well I cared for it, it always just seems to *quit working* after too short a time considering its price IMO. |

Do the
FroggToggs perform as advertised? I loved mine for about a year, then I ripped the pants putting them on and the parker started leaking like a screen. Maybe I was too rough on them, but I won't buy any more. I bought a set of Cabelas guidewear and love it. Fished for 8 hours in the rain last Sunday and the only thing that got wet was my hands.
