I am told by a Shimano rep that the Scorpion series reels are not made to
withstand American style Fishing as the gears are sub what Curado gears are. I thought that the gears in the Scorpion where superior to the curado's?? Has anyone heard the different or is this true and the sales rep wasn't BS ![]() -- Chris S Replace com with net to email |

But I am curious as to exactly what "American style Fishing" is considered to be, as opposed to fishing somewhere else. -- Chris S Replace com with net to email |

![]() "Chris S" wrote in message ... I was told by the Rep that the Japanese did more finesse fishing and not with heavy line, hence the gears would not hold up. ?? That's entirely a possibility. I do know that I have a number of Curados and Chronarch SuperFrees that have held up admirably. I use them for both bass fishing and throwing some fairly large lures for muskies, putting them through more than I'm sure Shimano had intended them for. So me? I figure if it isn't broke, don't fix it. One of the nice things about Curados and Chronarchs is that they are supported in the U.S., so if you do need service, it can be done locally. -- Steve @ OutdoorFrontiers http://www.outdoorfrontiers.com G & S Guide Service and Custom Rods http://www.herefishyfishy.com |

I got two scorpions Chris, and they are every bit abused as my curado, if
not more so. If I had the choice to fish one or the other, I'd pick up the scorpion every time "Chris S" wrote in message ... That's entirely a possibility. I just sent 3 of them along with my other Curados to Don for cleaning and
bearing replacements. My Scorpions are used as much as the Curados also. "Alwaysfishking" wrote in message ... I got two scorpions Chris, and they are every bit abused as my curado, if not more so.
