Okay, this started off as a thread over in ROFFT about a discount on a
fly tying materials cabinet. I mentioned that I had just done some clean out of my tiny little fly boxes and put the seriously nasty flies that I'd made over the years in a one gallon plastic jar (formerly the home of two dozen Costco Biscotti). These are flies that I tied when first learning how to tie, attempts at patterns described to me, or just nasty abortions tied whilst under the influence. There may even be a rotten banana stone fly in there. Jeffy comes along and suggests a contest for the Blue Rock Hole at Penns. Participants will either select or be given one or more flies from said jug. You have two hours to fish with these flies at the assigned beat. There will be two prizes, one for the biggest fish caught and one for the most fish caught. The prize will be that the other participants will buy the winners all the Budweiser (sorry, no substitutions allowed) they can drink at the Millheim (or the Sportsmans Club, depending on where we end up) that night. Anyone in? Hey, if you all have some really nasty (so this precludes flies tied by clavemeister Tom) flies that you would like to donate to the jug, I will judge them not worthy and chuck 'em in. In all fairness to our Left Coast brethren, I can bring "The Jug" to the Western Clave and we can repeat the exercise. -- Frank Reid Euthanize to reply |

Hmmmm, I may have to reconsider this whole Penn's Clave thing. ;-) -- Ken Fortenberry |

Have all participants handicap the flies beforehand: --really bad = 2 fish credited --bad = 1 fish credited. That way, there is agreement beforehand on which are the ugly ones that folks predict won't work. --riverman |

BTW, the flies are already a handicap. Just might do that though. -- Frank Reid Euthanize to reply |

obviously, i'm all in....at both destinations.
jeff (who barely catches fish with the un-nasty flies, so how bad can it be?) Frank Reid wrote: Okay, this started off as a thread over in ROFFT about a discount on a fly tying materials cabinet.
