Default OUTBOARD?

I just got a 1997 Johnson 200 h.p Venom and when I ran it I didn't get
any water out of the "****er" does it have to reach a a higher temp.
before it starts to spray? I ran it for about a min.

Most outboards should start shooting water out a few seconds after you start
them. You either have a plugged up system (inlet hole, outleyt hole, tubing)
or you have a bad impeller.

Don't run the motor until that problem is serviced, not even for a minute.
If there is no cooling water circulating the motor can overheat and become
severely damaged in a very short time.

I had that exact motor - it should start shooting water immediately. My boat
had a water pressure gauge on it - that is the best way to go. Check the tube
to see if it is plugged - if no water is coming out, that is probably the
problem. Even a bad impeller should send some water thru.

Had a wasp nest in mine once, might pull the line and check if it's been a
while since the motor ran only takes about 30 seconds to check the rubber
hose for an obstruction. Only took them about a week and a half to fill my
line up.

....they do have a thermostat, but one minute may be excessive depending on
the water temp. said Huck

Hi,

Not obligatorily... :-s I had the case on mine... no more water cooling and
the impeller looked fine... anyway I changed it and then the water ran
again... The impeller just lost it elasticity in time... one said to me that
it was classic on outboard that did not run since a long time...
Hope it helps... ;-)

Vincent.
