Default Portable smoker

Raccoons carried away on the weekend the
grill from my portable ABU brand fish smoker,
no longer manufactured, so I cannot buy
a replacement. But it was 30 years old and
pretty beat up, so it was time to buy a new
one. Who sells this sort of thing nowadays
-- size of a small shoebox, alcohol-fueled,
takes 20 to 30 min. to cook a trout or
mackerel to perfection (or a cheese & tomato
sandwich, come to that) ?

If it is just the grill(rack?) you are missing just make a new one.
But...
Here are two I have thought about but do not have. I have no idea how well
they work or are made. They may also be bigger than what you are looking
for.

ABU still makes its box smoker... its widely available in the UK & Europe
and still shown in their catalogue. A number of UK e-shops stock it

You can buy all sorts of mini-smokers, or really, get a heavy-gauge
stainless "cake pan" style, one with a sliding style lid, and you have a
smoker that works with chips on lots of heat sources. As to equipment
sources, while the "happy homeowner culinary supply" places like
Williams-Sonoma, etc., will have them, I'd say your best bet is to check
out restaurant supply houses for ones like the Cameron Smoker.

Here is the first one Google turned up:
http://www.restaurantequipment.com/STOVETOPSMOKER.html
which seems a little pricey, but gives you the basics of the thing.
