Just wondered the best Carolina rig worm hook or worm hook in general is? It really depends on who you ask. I am a strict Daiichi man myself. Daiichi Wide Gap to be more specific. They are very strong.. and very very sharp. Comparable Gamakatsu hooks are very sharp as well, but are thinner wire and open up easier. Case in point. I was flipping/pitching tree that overhang the water, and the branches go right to the bottom in about 2.5' of water. I missed a fish , and hooked one of the branches on the bottom and could not pull it free. First the line would not break. (Stren Superbraid 40lb) and then I tried pulling the hook straight out and it would not open at all!. So I ended up taking off my shirt and reaching down the 2' to actually grab the branch, and break it off and pull the whole damn thing up. I have both Gamakatsu and Daiichis in my box, but I will always grab the DAiichis first. Just my personal preference! Chris |
