Come a day early and you can stay in the Peter Charles Suite and be the 15th person to "sign the wall." No, no, I didn't mean "here's the dates" invited, I meant "Hey Forty, I'm richer than Croesus come join me in Labrador and the tab's on me" invited. ;-) If you want wild and scenic, for $3000 each you can do a 12-day float in Alaska, including travel, and have money left over. Of course, I'd rather apologize on ROFF than spend 12 minutes, let alone 12 days, with either you or LaCourse. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |

Of course it's ethical. The thread that started on abpf morphed into something perfectly on-topic for roff. In fact, Willi and Chas and Chas's son Andy and I are going on a 12-day float of the Kanektok in Alaska in late August/early September. Willi's done a masterfully thorough job of planning the trip, and it's going to be dirt cheap for what we're doing. I noticed after we returned from Belize that there were some snarky comments on ROFF to the effect that "some of us can't afford to do that kind of stuff." Well, if you do the research and plan carefully, you can do it for far less than you might think. If you need someone to cook for you, to change your sheets, to wipe your ass or whatever, it's going to cost you. But if you're resourceful, imaginative, and energetic you can do major fishing trips without breaking the bank. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |

What the hell does that have to do with Forty's post on the Middle Fork? Did you cross-post to roff to get attention? Forty and I were have a little fun with each other and you have to step in and corrupt the thread with your selfishness and foolishness. Simply unbelievable. I admire Fortenberry's ability to correctly judge character. |

Do tell! Tell us more about your plans, and the budget. I would dearly love to do a trip like that sometime. You can google "kanektok" and find out nearly as much as we know about it. It's supposed to be a great flyfishing river, and the float is supposed to be easy (i.e., no big rapids). We fly out of Bethel to put out in at Pigati Lake. The upper part of the river is supposed to be very scenic and to have good char and grayling fishing, the middle braided part is supposed to have good rainbow fishing, and the middle and lower parts are supposed to have good silver fishing in that time frame (late August/early September). We'll see. As far as the budget, I'm not going to post any figures right now -- maybe after the trip. Not using guides cuts the cost WAY down. If this turns out to be a good trip and a good value, I'd like to go back next year with a bigger group. Or maybe go to one of the other great rivers in the region. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |

For the life of me, I do not understand your motivation in hijacking this thread from abpf, crossposting to roff, and writing this gem. It seems like you're stirring the pot of bitterness to bring the worst to the surface, but maybe I'm wrong and there is another reason. Could you please explain? -- TL, Tim ------------------------ http://css.sbcma.com/timj |
