Default FINALLY got a fish at night here in VT

Hi folks

I finally caught a fish at night. I've gone out quite a few times
looking for bullhead, haven't gotten any. Last night, around 11:30, my
friend and I were trying different areas in a local pond. Not two
seconds after I cast into a new area did I get a hit - turned out to be
a 16" 2 lb. largemouth bass. Only thing either of us caught, though I
was pretty happy to reel in this big guy.

Now if I can only hook up with those bullhead I want :-)

Check your scale. 16" for two pounds seems a little light.

Cool, thanks. It's not accurate I bet, it's one of those pocket
De-Liars. I'll weigh a bag of rice and see how far off it is.

Well, big for this part of Vermont. Unless I'm fishing Lake Champlain
(which I haven't gotten a chance to do yet)

Oh, OK. I have the privelage of fishing these southern lakes (Texas,
Louisiana and Mississippi) where a 2 pounder really doesnt count.

You know, any fish you catch is a good one. A 2lb bass is always welcome.
I know I was out fishing with my kids a couple weeks ago for stripers. Here
in the river they run 6-13 inches. We caught about 50 of them, and we had a
blast catching them. We kept four of the larger ones, and I took some
pictures. The other day I was talking to some guys at the local tackle shop
about the fun morning we had, and some bozo decided to sneer down his nose
at us and comment on how they used to catch huge stripers in the river
around here. What a jack ass. I have caught big stripers too. I fished
Powell when the average schoolie was ten pounds, and bigger ones were not
uncommon, but they don't run that big currently in the lower Colorado river
near Yuma. Even the big Canyon Lakes like Powel and Mead are so over
populated by them that its really hard to catch many decent ones. BUT we
were out there catching fish and having fun. We were catching the fish that
were there to catch. So, there is not a darned thing wrong with a two pound
bass. Give me 5 of them in a tournament and I'll finish in the top half of
the pack most days.

You are correct sir...back in 97 in Louisiana at the McDonalds Classic, one
of the First Sergeants stationed at Fort Polk won the tournement and a
25,000 dollar Bass Boat setup, with one 5 pound fish.
