Fellow on an Oregon board put up this (filmed on the Deschutes River).....
commenting that the the size of those large orange indicators folks
are using is maybe starting to get out of hand. :-)

(It's three MB, so if you don't have broadband, think ahead......)

Damn, y'all got the biggest mosquitoes I've ever seen!

Does it hurt, when they bite?

That's why I never use more than 20 lb backing in fire season. Get
your backcast into that skycrane and your going to windup on top of a
burnt hill out in the grasslands. It'll probably be on "Wasco County
CSI" this fall.

Waco county is the location of Antelope once know as Rajneeshpuram.
The Bhagwan and his gang tried to contaminate a local salad bar. The
WCSI rode out on their horses and got em.

The mind reels!

God, I love this place!

Wolfgang
for whom the words, "tried to contaminate a local salad bar" raise images
that delight, horrify, titillate, baffle, intrigue, disgust, and just plain
befuddle.

That was bioterrorism from a group that professed love. What will the ones
do that really hate us?

The low level training routes for that area were (maybe still are)
controlled by NAS Whidbey Operations. The gentleman that gave us the
brief during Instrument Ground School (one of those yearly requirements)
had worked at Ops for a loooong time and remembers crews from all over
calling up to schedule those routes and usually asking for the routes
not by numbers (VR-1350 etc) but usually "that route over that Bagwan
guy" Used to get four ships of Canadian F-101's and Oregon Guard F-4's
as well as the standard INtruders and Prowlers at *near* supersonic at
200' agl all the time. Once scheduled a four ship of B-1's to be
overhead right at dawn. I also used to ski with a woman who lived in the
county then and she said the turnout for voting was about as close to
100% as you could get just so the town could maintain some sort of
control.

One of the reasons the Boardman Nuclear plant never got built was because it
was on the bombing range. Never can be sure there not a 2,000 lb UXB under
the containment.
