that I can put on a light baitcasting rod, and throw light weight
lures - like 1/4 oz max. I've been fishing small streams most the summer, and have found I can cast much more accurately w/ bait cast (ie in to / along brush than I can w/ spinning gear. I've been using my "regular" weight rods and reels, but am now looking for something lighter. Recommendations? Thanks Jim |

Thanks Jim Yep, but nothing inexpensive. =) You can go with the Daiwa Liberto Pixy (Japanese) or the Daiwa TD Sol (US). The Shimano Scorpion & Scorpion MG are also options. I would opt for more Scorpions, but that's just me. ![]() Harry J aka Thundercat Brooklyn Bill's Tackle Shop Fishing Team http://www.brooklynbillstackleshop.com Share the knowledge, compete on execution. |

Never heard the words "light" and "baitcaster" used in the same sentence....

Thanks Jim Dave Willhide and Hammer can both cast light poppers on baitcasting reels as far and as accurately as I can with spinning tackle. Hammer uses a Shimano Curado 200BSF. Not sure what Dave was using when I fished with him. Joe Scmidt also does pretty well. He also uses the 200BSF, but I know Joe also tweaks his reels and relubes them with Hot Sauce every outing. -- Bob La Londe Win a Tackle Pack Jig Fishing - Tips and Techniques Contest Courtesy of Siebler Custom Baits http://www.YumaBassMan.com |

Rattle Traps 120' with my Daiwa Pixy and Megabass F0-60X Elese combo. The secret is to stick with light line (I use 4# Yozuri Soft). A Pixy on a ML rod that's rated down to 1/8oz makes a great replacement for a spinning rig. I cast a 1/16oz Aile Goby almost 100'. Anything over 1/4oz seems heavy to me. |
