Alligator Gar. 'Bout a 26-incher. Caught him on a gold 0.5 oz. wob-l-rite
w/wire leader. Hell of a fight! Jumping out the water and everything. Also caught three bass, a redfish, a large black drum, a large flounder and a catfish. All caught on the wob-l-rite. Excellent day of fishing. Lake Pontchartrain South Shore at the mouth of the Wilson Canal. |

Just un ravel a bout 6 to 10 inches of it and let it out. Pump it in a little and let out and repeat. The Gar's teeth get tangled in the rope real effectively no need for a hook of any sort. |

I read about that. I've been on the lookout for the parts to make such a
lure. |

The actual species is extremely rare. The easiest Gar species to hook is Shortnose. |

Pretty sure about the species. I caught another the next day that was
definitely a different species from the first. I haven't found a decent species reference with photos. |
