Default Opinions on recent multi-tips...?

Hey all,

For that all-purpose 8-weight set-up I mentioned earlier, now I gotta
figure out appropriate fly line(s). Again, I plan on using this for
'everything bigger than a trout.' This could mean, alternately - in
freshwater, Salmon, Steelhead, or even Bass; in sal****er, it'd be
Stripers out at Montauk, Bluefish, small Barracuda, maybe even baby
tarpon, or whatever else I might find when I head out to the dock or
beach or rocks or flats when I'm in some tropical place on a nominally
non-fishing vacation with my girlfriend.

I was thinking I'd get one sinking line (not sure what size) and one
floating line. I've already got an extra spool, so the extra line
wouldn't be a problem. But now I'm wondering about the multitip lines.

I read in older posts that they didn't cast very well, with hinging and
getting caught in the guides, but it sounds like maybe those problems
have been fixed in more recent lines? Opinions...?

Thanks, Tim

PS - and if you do think multi tips are the way to go, any particular
brands you like?
