Well, I was just gonna post something about that. I figure it will
double my chances of catching a fish if I move back to Nebraska.

Or maybe you might want to think twice about it, ya never know what
they put in the water.

To answer the topic question, some years ago a friend had a lake
trout take his egg sack and then about 30 seconds later, while Steve
was fighting the fish, it grabbed the KwikFish (lure) that I was
using.
The lake trout weighed in the range of 12-14 lbs.

Actually, the second opening looks like an injury from a fish hook that
may have torn its tongue away from its jaw. That is the first cut I
make when I am cleaning a fish.
