Default Professional Angler: By Definition or Recognition?

Gentlemen,

I want to raise a question here. How can I be recognized as a professional angler? Is it something to do with certification or lGFA tournament?

Appreciate your attentive reply.

A professional angler, is someone who derives their living from fishing.

Nearly all golf courses have a professional golfer on staff, this guy
probably makes his living teaching golf, not winning PGA tournaments.

In fishing, most pro's are just good enough to get manufacturers, to pay
them to endorse their products, but their are many professional fishing
guides, that are true Pros, these guys have to be good to stay in business.

Some think the only real pros are those who regularly compete in BASS,
or FLW tournaments

Then you have guys like me, I get paid to go fish for fun :-)

If you can make a living at fishing is all that is required. Here in Maine
we consider Lobstermen and guides professional fishermen.
But I'm thinking that you have a jazzy bass boat covered with sponsor
stickers in mind.
Pretty much the road to having your own TV show and sponsors (The way I
understand it) Is done by starting locally in tournaments. I think a BASS
touney costs $100 per 2 man team to enter. or there are individual events
($50 for one man team). You need to have a live well, dead fish
penalty is culling your largest fish and keeping the dead one.
Boat insurance and day to fish.
Winning a few will get you recognized and theres apparently a limitless
number of tourneys and types that you can enter.
You might want to check the B.A.S.S. website or whatever group grabs your
interest. you probably don't need to be a member to join an event, but they
will list them or tell you where to go to find them.
