What's the difference between Lefty's Decievers and Clouser Minnows? I
thought at first that Clousers had upturned hooks, but then I found a site that showed a bunch that had the hooks down. Then I thought that maybe Deceivers had some sort of feather between the bucktail, but that doesn't seem entirely so either. Can anyone point me to a link, or explain it to me? --riverman |

![]() Clousers normall do fish inverted, the site may simply have them photographed in the tying position. Lefty's do have feathers in between the bucktail. You can'trely on everything you see on the web ... Having said that, and just to complete the set that Steve linked in ... http://members.ij.net/danscustomflys/HalfnHalfPage.html Steve |

Having said that, and just to complete the set that Steve linked in ... http://members.ij.net/danscustomflys/HalfnHalfPage.html The key for the Clouser or for any "inverted" streamer pattern (including your HalfnHalf) is that the white bucktail (or whatever white material you care to use) should be tied on the "top" of the hook (away from the bend) because it imitates the white belly of a baitfish. A big difference between the Clouser and the Deceiver, to me, is that Clousers are tied with weighted eyes and Deceivers aren't. I'm pretty sure you can find counterexamples if you look hard enough. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |

As easily as the Lead-Eyed Deceiver, a pretty popular striper fly that makes one heck of a skull-dent if you don't dodge the windblown cast... /daytripper (btdt. ouchie! ;-) |
