I spent a couple of days and nights at Brannan State Park (Central
California) and fished Wednesday and Thursday. I fished for sturgeon at Light 25 near Coast Guard Sector Rio Vista the first day for nuthin' but grass debris. Surface was pretty clean. I cruised down to Garnet Point on Suisun Bay Thursday for one 40" sturgie released and one big'un that ran and breached and spit it in about five seconds. Exciting and disappointing! Fished with lamprey only. That stuff is cheap and effective! The crowd began gathering on Friday morning for a big sturgeon derby. Also, a big internet fishing group was planning the weekend there. I headed home to avoid the crowds. This derby might give us some idea of the true numbers of sturgeon in the delta system. Photos at my homepage: www.fishwisher.com Dale |
