Quick question: is there any fly fishing a drivable distance from San
Francisco in April? My vague feeling is that the logical closest areas (the sierras is where I went last year) don't really start until July. Am I wrong? Is there someplace good I might get to with a reasonable drive (and/or hike) from SF in april? Thanks, Tim |

There's also a big reservoir just northeast of Napa, I think it starts with a 'B' but it's been so long I cannot remember the name. Anyway, it has a tailwater trout fishery below the dam. Probably Berryessa. I've never heard about he tailwater. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |

THIS year the water is very high, thus far, at the ones I sometimes visit http://www.ncffb.org/ is a better place to get the information |

Now is not April, but, now you'd be hard pressed to find anything too exciting. The general season won't be open yet in April but there are several decent to good streams that are open all year ( or only closed Oct to Jan for salmon ). I live very near one of those, the Stanislaus, and it is currently VERY high and dirty, my guess is that all the others are too .....as I said .. now..... but things change fairly fast |
