That is what I tried to say elsewhere in this thread. It isn't new,
either, but dates back more than a decade - people just are not
saving.

Joanne's father was a depression baby (like my brother and sister) and
he was afraid that it would happen again in his life time. To prepare
for it, he saved solid silver quarters (not the sandwich type),
figuring that people would take silver and gold in payment for
goods/services. But, gold could not be broken down into small amounts
like silver coins could be. Not a bad idea, really.
