sorry no pictures and art as per JR---but Jeff invited me to hike with
him-------McIntosh responded
thanks for invite but hills sound too steep for me.Swung thru Black mountain
last week on way home from Alabama, Ga trip and spent part of two days on
"my" stream. Planned to fish from parking spot (2200ft ) to Blue Ridge
(4400ft) but made it only about half way. Age, amyotonia, altitude and
attitude all amplified my change in plans. Fish more and hike less.
No folks, lots of butterflies {small black not yellow !] and active specs
continue to make it a special stream for me.
Last trip I used a short [6ft6in] 3wt built by Dave Lewis but the rod tip
was too stiff and I could not get the flip cast needed--this trip I tried my
9ft 5wt Loomas and it worked better for dipping over rocks into small pools
with just a couple of feet of line with 7ft leader,
but it was a SOB to get thru brush while climbing upstream.
If I win new lottery in NC think I will own a 4wt 7ft with an active
tip.Had lots of hits with #14 stimulator but found a #16 royal wuff fit
the mouth of my small prey just right.
Treat Opie nice this weekend and perhaps he will join us for that promised
Slickrock trip this fall.

Treatin' me nice is the least of his worries. He'd just better hope that I
survive to drag his lame ass out of the forest dark and deep!

I'd love to do that trip with y'all, bit I am in the process of applyin' to
the Master's of Public Administration progam, at ASU. If accepted, I hope
to start classes in the Fall. Currently, studyin' for the GRE. I hate the
Analytical Reasoning and Analysis sections of that test!

Op --if Bob, Ted, Carol, Alice, Tom, Dick, Harry, Abbot, Costello, and
Groucho are seated at a round table and Bob sits next to Harry, and Abbott
doesn't sit next to Groucho, and Tom and Dick are both ****heads, and Ted
and Costello are both gay, why are Carol and Alice showin' their tits to
Steve and Alex?--

So the guys will get the rope up off of their pie feet so they can go to
Walmart and buy some real classy hand pumps. They're hoping to win a
Pulitzer, beat the rap, and blame it on the Bush Administration.
