Would anyone mind sharing their favorite Walleye or Pickerel Fly choices? I
have not done much walleye fishing but my buddies have persuaded me to try it. We will be mainly fishing rivers so any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Stu. |

It's not so easy to catch walleye on a fly. Personally I think it's kind of
a waste of time, unless you want that specific challenge. Then get some sinking line and some streamer type flies. For pickerel it's a much better situation as they are shallower water fish and will go for most of the same flies pike will go for. (By "pike" I mean Northern Pike, not "Walleye Pike" or "Yellow Pike".) By the way, don't you have Northern Pike in those waters? Conventional wisdom has been that you must use a large enough streamer
to hook a minnow to. Seriously, will you be fishing the riffles between lakes in Canada? There is supposed to be some fine walleye fishing there near the spawn. cheers oz |

Here in the Northwest, a friend of a friend uses Muddler Minnows effectively. But, he uses mono with weight to get the fly down. JT |
