sort of new to bass fishing and son-in law has furnished lots of tackle
with no instruction
for which type of rig or lure do you use a swivel on end of line and what
size.
per messages posted last week a senko on a wacky rig will be my bait of
choice this evening when push my kayak onto 21 acre golf course pond that
is seldom fished.

I use a snap but no swivel on my Rapala minnows (my main lure of
choice) but when I get the chance to try my Senko's I will not use any
type of snap/swivel, I will just tie the hook directly. I only use a
swivel on a Mepps Spinner but I rarely use that lure. As far as the
Rapala's, just a snap seems to give the best action, especially on the
smaller sizes, the snap-swivel is too much hardware IMO, and just tying
it directly seems to mute the movement. There is a knot for the Rapala
that leaves a loop but I can't remember how to tie it and the snap
works too well for me to worry about it. I also recall it being
mentioned to use a snap-swivel with a spinnerbait.

I used to fish the golf course ponds on NAS Cecil Field, some of the
best fishing around. Got chased off many times by the SP, but that
never detered us. Seems golfers didn't want to share the course with a
couple of Navy brats.

Usually, the only time I use a snap swivel is when I'm throwing an inline
spinner that causes line twist. 95% of the time, I don't use a snap, a
swivel or a snap swivel, preferring to tie my line directly to the lure.

None. I can't say any more 'bout that.

Also, if you're planning to throw wacky senkos, be prepared with some wide
gap worm hooks just in case it's too weedy to fish the wacky. Wacky is
deadly, unless it's globbed up with weeds. Just so you can be ready with an
alternative, get some worm hooks as a backup.

I once tyried a weedless wacky hook a buddy of mine had, but they were
expensive and needed to be mail ordered. I usually ust a mustad octopus
1/0 I think. It doesn't get real bad but it can grab some weeds.

Way too big for wacky rigging in weeds, try a 2. On the rare occasion that
it grabs grass just pop it out, often draws a nasty strike too.
