retouching and posting these photos on his swap pages soon.

Remember, the mailing deadline is October 9, so mark your calendars.

Hi All,

I am short of time so I decided to do something that I can tie quickly.

I'll be doing a "TDM" which stands for "That Dam Midge". It's a local
pattern, but when you see it, you'll find it looks a lot like some other
patterns, just bigger than some midges. But they sure work. My wife and I
caught 80 fish in 2.5 hours one day on two of these things. 1 for sure,
maybe 2 each if I can get them done.

Sounds good, Wayne. I heard from Dave Martel today and his flies are being
sent today. I'm getting all tingly inside. ;-)

Howdy swappers!

Just finished my dozen Black Gnat variations. They'll start crossing the
Atlantic monday. With the wind in their back and their tiny little medium
blue dun turkey-flat wings working hard they should be able to make it in a
weeks time to Tim's front door.
The reason for this fly is simpel: I hadn't much time to fish during the dog
days this summer. Besides that this summer was very poor over he Started
with extreme heath, followed by much, much rain for a long time and ended
very hot again. Bad fishing conditions.
So I decided to spend my fishing time with as much quality as possible and
when on the riverbanks I only fished the way I like it most: small streams,
slow-action splitcane #4 rod, dry line and a simple classic-type fly -
moving around in a relaxed manner (cold drinks, garlic-/peppersausages, good
fishing-mates and tabacco within reach) and only casting at spotted and
feeding fish.
During this awfull activity (it's a bad job, but someone's got to do it)
this simple black pattern did well for me. BTW: so did a small Jassid Black
also. As we probably all know: small black thingies often work in bad
conditions
Here's the pattern:
Hook: TMC 100, sizes 16 and 18
Thread: black
Tail: black cock
Body: thread and stripped black hackle stem
Wings: turkey-flat deyed medium blue dun
Hackle: black cock again.

I don't see what this pattern has got to do with gnats, more than being
small and black, but it worked for me and I enjoyed it!

Greetings,
Hans van der Stroom

I'm still working on mine and will likely not get them to Tim until the
deadline :~^ (

Though I do intend to send two flyz for each tier.

.. . . and the winner for first flies delivered is. . .

Dave Martel - Parachute Ant

Upon close inspection, it appears Dave decided to tie female ants this year
(pink post). Great pattern, Dave - thanks!

And after inspecting my hook collection, I'm thinking my previously
unannounced fly is going to end up being a small-s orange stimulator (not to
be confused with the copyrighted fly of a similar name).
