....well, nobody notified us of the c&k permits...but it sounds like
someone heeded our idea of allowing a fair chase kill before a foul poison was released. still...i just don't agree with poison-killing a stream full of semi-wild rainbows...esp. when viability of the watershed for brookies remains an issue. except for the killing part, it is a noble experiment though, isn't it? thanks for the interesting note willi... jeff (who is looking forward to fishing a nc native brookie stream in 2 weeks...and no poison was required to make it so) Willi wrote: http://www.charlotte.com/mld/observe...ts/6767978.htm Willi |

Haven't fished enough NC brookie streams to claim expert status, but I've never seen it done without significant (if not to say prodigious) quantities of poison. Wolfgang prosit! |

Just wondering, any idea as to the effects on the NC streams from Isabel? I
believe the SNP had 14+ inches of rain at the higher elevations and figure that the streams would be pretty well scoured. -- Frank Reid Reverse email to reply |

no effects here in the NC mountains Frank. Very little rain and
hardly any wind. fish on! Just looked at the accumulated rain for the State College/Penns Creek area. Looks like they to escaped with about a half an inch. Still in the clean-up mode after the storm, so couldn't make it up there with the crew if I tried. Damn, I could'a been a contender. -- Frank Reid Reverse email to reply |

![]() "Willi" wrote in message ... http://www.charlotte.com/mld/observe...ts/6767978.htm I found this quote very interesting: "Rau said 50-some anglers, however, could catch only 40 percent of the rainbows in a week. "Fishing pressure has a surprisingly low effect on fish," he said." "Only" 40%! In one week! If anyone still thinks there are enough fish to go around for anyone who wants to fry them up, that ought to make them think twice. |
