The feds elevate a Maine river to a high level of protection, but locals want
better access to "their" river, which will lessen any "wilderness" experience.

The more I think about this, the less sure of where I stand...

I think I understand your equivocation.

Personally, though, I take enormous satisfaction from the fact that I
will almost certainly never get to the Allagash river......or the vast
majority of the ten or twenty million other last best places I've
never seen.
