With no more than the usual lack of insight, I offer
my annual Kentucky Derby Selections: 1. Curlin 2. Circular Quay 3. Nobiz Like Showbiz longshot: Sam P If Circular Quay stays up over 10-1, that would be where my money will be invested at 5:30 pm. Something tells me this horse is sitting on a live race. Tom |

Tom I'm going with win, place, and show. I think by picking those three I have a fairly good chance of something. Op --It's funny that they show-up in every race I've ever seen?-- |

Tom Hey Tom, I know you told you were practically born on the track. I was wondering if you ever won laying $$$ on the Derby? I was also thinking it might make more Street Sense to bet the Preakness. btw: never placed a bet on the ponies. -tom |

It was a good score....I had lots of friends at the bar that night(and on well into the following morning). 1994, don't even recall Derby winner. All I remember was that it rained, a lot, the track was muddy and I was up around $2500 by the time the Derby was run. As I recall, I put about half of it back onto a safe sort of place bet or something and won that. The wife spent most of that one on stuff I can't recall, but I did get a Thomas and Thomas fly rod to fish Penn's Creek with. Generally, most of my Derby Days have been lackluster, win a bit, lose a bit. I usually bet most of the card leading up to the race, so I can be a bit short by the race itselfg. Tom |
