Do you visit the ROFB archive at http://rofb.net?
Secret Weapon Lures has sponsored that archive since 2003. It averages 50 unique visitors per day, with the article on trailer wiring and the ODF pages being the biggest attractions. There you'll find some information about this newsgroup, a copy of the charter, posting guides, photos, and an FAQ gleaned from posts shared in this forum. My question: does it benefit this group for us to keep this site going? What say you? I head over every 6 months or so. Don't see any advantage of it though but
like to check to see if anything new is there. "Joe Haubenreich" wrote in message ... Do you visit the ROFB archive at http://rofb.net? Secret Weapon Lures has sponsored that archive since 2003. My question: does it benefit this group for us to keep this site going? What say you? I'd say it's definitely a *great* benefit for rofb, if only for the FAQ. Of course only those who actually do the work and pay the bills can make a meaningful cost-benefit analysis but speaking as someone who does none of the above the benefits far outweigh the costs for me. ;-) I noticed the conspicuous lack of a fly fishing section in the FAQ. -- Ken Fortenberry |

I noticed the conspicuous lack of a fly fishing section in the FAQ. That's because you are our resident fly basser and you haven't written that section yet. I've caught a bass or two on the fly, but its been so totally by accident that I wouldn't have a clue what to write. You on the other hand are one of those zen masters of the peaceful moment and the gently flutter of the streamer as your artful stabs with the rod make it dance and jump to the joy and astonishment of the watching bass. Surely you can reflect on the peace and sereneity of a moment on the water with the fall colors playing tricks on you at every pool and riffle. Perhaps you can school us on how the only competition of the fly fisher is that fleeting moment when you and the fish are connected by that most gossamer of threads. Perhpas you tell us about the shear joy you felt when didn't count or weigh or measure your catch enjoying only the contest of the moment. A moments reflection on your peace with the world as you thank your adversary and so tenderly released back into his home waters might be in order. -- Bob La Londe Fishing Arizona & The Colorado River Fishing Forums & Contests http://www.YumaBassMan.com |

Besides it was only snide return of the attitude of superioriity I have experienced from a few silly fly fishers. I wasn't sneering when I wrote it. Oh yeah, I even resemble some of those snide remarks and I can take it as well as I can dish it. Your chuckling post does show that there's relatively little interest in fly fishing for bass amongst the denizens of rofb so it logically follows that there is no need for a fly fishing section in the rofb FAQ. And we fly fishermen aren't necessarily superior, but we can't help it if you hardware chuckers happen to think so. ;-) -- Ken Fortenberry |
