Default Clear water techniques

Ok! at last I've found a technique that works well for me in clear
water= dropshot. What are some other great ways to catch bass in clear
water? please include bait colors and and some detail on how to present
them.

Clear water? I've found that many of the clear water lakes I fish work well
with the same lures I use in dingier water, I just have to keep the colors
more natural, nothing really flashy or gaudy. Goto Tournament sticks in
watermelon green with red/green flecks, Fluke-type lures in white pearl or
baby bass and tube jigs in crawfish work very well. The sticks I like wacky
rigged with a 1/0 or 2/0 octopus hook. Presentation is pretty simple, throw
it in where you think a bass is hiding and let it fall. If it hits bottom
without getting bit, pop the rod tip twice to jump the lure off the bottom
and let it fall again. I'll do this two or three times and if I don't get
bit, I'll reel up and cast to another spot. I rig the fluke lures with a
5/0 Gamakatsu Extra Wide Gap hook and again, toss them into fishy looking
spots. This is anywhere shade and concealment is offered. It might be weed
edges/pockets, stumps, lay-downs or boat dock/boat lifts/pontoon boats.
Toss the lure in, twitch it back out. I usually work the lure about 10-15
feet from the cover and if I don't get bit after a couple casts, try another
spot.

Slightly smaller lures do the job too. When I'm fishing a spinnerbait, I
drop down one or two sizes (3/16 or 5/16) and I use blades that have less
vibration/flash. I've been doing well this year using Secret Weapon
spinnerbaits with a small chrome Colorado blade and a white painted
willowleaf and either a baby bass or a firetiger skirt. Fish in clear water
I believe will hold tighter to cover than in dingier water, and sight feed
more than relying on vibration. Accurate casting close to cover is helpful
but they will chase a lure a little farther than their cousins living in
murky water. I'll work a lure a little faster and erratically as the water
gets clearer too. I like to find weed flats and cast over the top of the
weeds, creating a bulge in the surface of the water. Then, as the lure
approaches a pocket in the weeds, I'll kill the retrieve, allowing the lure
to helicopter down. I get a lot of strikes when the lure resumes speed as I
crank to bring it out of the hole.

One technique that has worked really well for me on clear water lakes,
especially on bright, sunny days is to skip cast a fluke, stick or tube lure
waaaaay up underneath boat docks where the fish are tucked into the shade.
Often these fish are neutral in feeding attitude, so I fish these areas a
little slower. I toss the lure up under the dock, let if fall and just sit
there for a little bit. Then, if I don't get bit, I'll pop the bait just
enough to jump it up off the bottom a little and let it fall again. Many
times, all I get for a bite is a slight jump in the line or a little bit of
weight.

Does this help?

Default Clear water techniques

Most of the waters I fish are clear and bass are caught on a variety of
techniques, lures and colors, including topwaters on sunny afternoons.
