I find myself in Lewisburg, Pennsylavia, where some people are trying
to convince my wife to move (hopefully with me and the kids) Looking through some local realtor materials, I find a thin blue line called Penn's Creek. Is this the hallowed Penn's Creek that I read so many posts from year's gone by? Remind me who is the bard of Penn's Creek, who organized the claves, and whether they still go on. Am I in a good enough area of trout fishing that I should be discouraged from ever returning here again? I am but a prodigal poster. East Machias Jim (formerly of Memphis) |

Op- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Good memory Op. About a year and a half ago we moved to Downeast Maine, the last county in the United States to be more precise. It's extremely rural and wild, and I love it. My wife's job is not working out so good (that is to say the job was not what was represented), so we need to consider relocation, probably next summer. The goal is to take a few baby steps back into civilization, without falling into suburban hell. This month we are doing a whirlwind tour of jobs in Pennsylvania, Eastern Oregon and Central New York. Access to flyfishing is a definite requirement. East Machias Jim |

Op- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - We've considered North Carolina back and forth; I have a brother-in- law in Asheville who would love us to relocate there, but after a year in Durham (back in the '90's) and 11 years in Memphis I've become allergic to the Southeast. It's all that unrestrained suburban development mixed with self-rightious conservatism. Plus, it's hot! and getting hotter every year it seems. East Machias Jim |

East Machias Jim Where in Eastern Oregon? I may be able to help you with specific FF info or even get you a taste of some fantastic fishing depending on what part of this very large area you are considering. Bob Weinberger La Grande, OR |

![]() "Memphis Jim" wrote in message ps.com... I find myself in Lewisburg, Pennsylavia, where some people are trying to convince my wife to move (hopefully with me and the kids)...... East Machias Jim (formerly of Memphis) Well, Jim, you are in trout-fishing luck!! To the West of Lewisburg you can easily get to the one and only Penn's Creek. Follow route 45 and turn left at Hartleton(stop in at fellow roffian Bruce Fisher's Penn's Creek Angler for detailed creek info), Woodward or Millheim to access major points on the creek. Bruce has some nice basic info at: www.pennscreekangler.com and yes, the Clave is still an annual late-May tradition. 2008 dates will be discussed over steaks and lies next weekend!! Right now, the creek is very low and clear, but fall angling can be very good once some colder rains and weather arrive. BTW, other great fishing streams near enough to Lewisburg would include: Big Fishing Creek, White Deer Run, Elk Creek, Fishing Creek(Benton), the Loyalsock Creek and Pine Creek, just to name the larger ones. Small brook trout streams are too numerous to name, and far too secret to reveal in a Usenet group. Tom ......hardly bardlike, but it's the best I can do!g |
