Hey guys. Looking for some ideas and locations to get my flyline wet
around here. Any areas that are fairly easy to get to and fish from shore or wading? |

![]() I just read about a stream in western Maryland in Eastern Fly Fishing Magazine that sounded quite good. You can even hike in and camp on the stream, parts of it are so remote. It was in either the current or previous issue of the magazine. Of course, the Rapidan is the most famous area trout stream, having hosted many a president angler. -- CR ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CR's Profile: http://www.njflyfishing.com/vBulleti...php?userid=213 View this thread: http://www.njflyfishing.com/vBulleti...ad.php?t=12738 ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Unrestricted-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

I think you're refering to the Savage River, MD. July/August 2007 Edition. Hey guys. Looking for some ideas and locations to get my flyline wet
around here. Any areas that are fairly easy to get to and fish from shore or wading? Okay, I may be in Nebraska, but I moved here from Maryland. Go to Bass Pro up by BWI and talk to the folks in there about local fishing. The guy (Larry Coburn) that runs the place (the fly shop) litterally wrote the book on fly fishing in Maryland. His book, Guide to Maryland Trout Fishing: The Catch- And -Release Streams, will give you enough info to play with new waters every weekend for 5 years. And thats only the streams with naturally reproducing populations. Also, there's tons of water around you in DC. You can fish for bucketmouth bass on the Potomac from the Mall, go upstream to Harpers Ferry and you're in smallie heaven, further upstream and you're into huge browns. Head over by the bridge to the Eastern Shore and you can fly fish for stripers from the bank. Oh, and if you're up to a bit of brush busting, the most southern population of native Maryland brookies can be found near Millersville, MD. Look up the Free State Fly Fishers. Great group. Feel free to contact me if you are looking for some more info (except for the location of those secret brookies). Frank Reid |
