Also interesting to note your use of the word homo as what you
obviously conceive to be a deadly insult. Only a fairly extreme
homophobe does something like that LaCourse, and your mentor is
purportedly the sworn enemy of all homophobes. Doubtless he finds
himself in something of a dilemma as a result.

Does he do what he claims he does to all homophobes and take the
chance of losing an ally, ( who admittedly is more of a liability, but
needs must when the devil drives), or does he swallow hard, and try to
put a brave face on it?

Flawed logic. If someones aim is to insult another, the most effective
means is to use terms that are known to be extremely offensive to the target
of the insult. It doesn't matter whether the insulter personally finds those
terms objectionable to themselves in order to have maximum effect on the
target of the insult. Your reasoning only holds true if the insulter has no
knowledge of what the target finds offensive, and thus must rely on the
assumption that things the insulter would find offensive have the same
effect on the target. That is not the case here, as you have made it
abundantly clear how offensive you find the terms used.

I've always wanted to drive Nurburgring. Perhaps I'll make the trip
this spring.
