I have come across some truly despicable creeps in my 51

Seems like quite a few cease and desists might be in order.

He also claims in his user protocols that, by posting to NEFF, you
give up your first Amendment rights to free speech, whereas he
explicitly claims his own right to post whatever he wants, including
your personal info that you specifically format to keep hidden: if you
**** him off, he'll post that and/or anything you have ever written to
him. He also has absolutely no mechanism to unsubscribe to his
site...if you register, he claims the rights to everything you post
and all your info.

Sort of a power trip, if you ask me.

But I will grant him that eventually he realized that spamming roff
was not worth the effort. I don't know if he ever realized that he
****ed up technologically or ethically...just that 'it didn't work out
the way he planned.' Its like the universe has him at its
center...hmmm, that reminds me of an old New Yorker magazine cover.

If he's still taking ROFF posts, he's still inflating his post count.

The lawyers can correct me, but I'm pretty sure that he can put
whatever conditions he wants on a voluntarily subscribed free service.
People tend to invoke the 1st Amen. in too many places.

This is pretty standard practice at most "free service" sites, from
Google on down. I put up with it to post to ROFF through Google, but
I'd never have a Gmail account or use Google apps. Pretty much, their
agreement says that even though they won't use your info/data for some
current list of actions (to make you think your safe), they reserve
the right to do anything they want with it in the future. In the past
I've even refused to send some personal email to a friend on their
Gmail account, because Google claims ownership of incoming mail, too.

I'm not at all defending it or saying I like it, I'm just saying it
is. Use these services at your own risk, and make sure you understand
what you are agreeing to.

Jon.
