Now is usually a good time to catch a few but the amount of river-mud in the usual harbours and estuaries means sport will be iffy at best. Treat 'em like small pond rudd - fine gb, small hooks, scrap of fish or shellfish on #10 hook. Alternative is a trace of trout-fly sized feathers worked through a shoal (gb still useful) - not as reliable but more productive if they're 'on'. id like to catch some for livebaiting for bass & freezing for dead baiting for pike. And take a few for eating. One of the better eating fish despite their size.
