As an offshoot from that other thread, how about a whisky whore's
listing of what's in your whisky cabinet? I'll start.. At home (in no order): Johnny Walker Black McCallan 18yo Balvenie 15yo Bowmore 17yo Jaya Palm whisky (from Cambodia); no age statement SangSom Thai whisky (for gags); no age statement In my desk: Yamazaki 12yo Balvenie 12yo In my whisky cabinet at the Whisky Club: A'bunadh (no age statement) Rosebank 1990 ("Connoisseur's Choice" line from Gordon & McPhail) It seems that I like to have Speysides at home and Islays in town. Never noticed that before. --riverman |

Frankly, I can't afford $50/bottle or more to just try something I might not like. I think we need another single malt tasting event at a clave. From all accounts, the last one went swimmingly. Yeah, but you're not a teacher barely making a living. ;-) -- TL, Tim ------------------------- http://css.sbcma.com/timj |

Yeah, but you're not a teacher barely making a living. ;-) When I was in Beltramo's (a fancy liquor store in Atherton, CA) the other day I saw a bottle of scotch priced at $7800. Ridiculous. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |

Laphroaig 10 y.o. but I won't replace the Laddie or the Bunnahabhain after I drink them up. I guess I'm becoming an old fart because I don't believe that variety is all it's cracked up to be and certainly not the spice of life. I find something I like and that's that. -- Ken Fortenberry |

The single malt tasting was a complete success, a total roffian tour de force and a delightful evening. The problem was most of those bastids decided they wanted to go *FISHING* the next morning !! And what's worse they insisted that I arise from a perfectly fine drunken stupor to accompany them. If I ever attend another Clave tasting I'm going to station an armed guard outside my sleeping quarters. -- Ken Fortenberry |
