I live in San Diego. Here they stock channel cat fish in the lakes. I
never was lucky enough to catch a cat fish. I will appreciate if someone would give me some hints how can I catch a cat fish. Thanks. |

Try tying your self a bottom rig. Bait it with just about anything from
worms, market shrimp or some commercial produce bait. Catfish are scavengers and will eat anything. They prefer the bottom but will come up to the surface to get food. Here is a good site for you to get some ideas http://www.catfished.com/page16.html Just be careful when taking them off the hook the pectoral fins are very sharp and pointy. Sarge |

Thanks. I never caught any Channel cats on any stinky baits. I had the best luck on Live bait. worms and crawdads were best for me. baby mice and minnows worked good too |

I had the best luck on Live bait. worms and crawdads were best for me. baby mice and minnows worked good too Caught 2 channel cats on cut fish bait (herring but any oily fish will do) one 12 lbs and one 10 lbs. I agree channels dont seem to be so crazy about the stinkiness of baits. |

They like live food !and May Flys ! If the may flys are having a hatch after
dark in the summer get the fly rod out ,you will have a ball! Fish a shinner or a live night craller under a bobber..rainy day, cloudy day the best..
