Well, the damn hex hatch has put the hex on my day time
fishing. I was hoping the hex hatch would be winding down
by now and in some years it would be, but this year it's
just getting started.

I've been on the Pere Marquette since Monday and will
move to the Au Sable Friday. I left all my flashlights
and hex flies at home so I wouldn't even be *tempted*
to go stand around in a pitch black stream waving blindly
in the friggin' dark.

Of course, there is an Orvis shop just up the road ... ;-)

Oh bull hockey, this time of year the hex hatch, has often not even
started.

Regardless, I too will be on the Ausable this Friday afternoon. Wanna
fish a deadfall laced small brookie stream Saturday am?

I'm at Gates AuSable Lodge Friday and Saturday nights. If you don't
mind a yellow Lab pup swimming where you want to be fishing my cell
is 217 721 2924. I've got the canoe with me so I plan to fish mostly
on the Mason tract on the South Branch.

I'll call you Friday, not sure where I'm staying yet as my usual June
Michigan plans got shot this year and I won't be getting into town
until early Friday afternoon and I have to leave on Sunday am.

BTW, if you have time, one of the finest shotgun shops in the country
is in Traverse City if you'd like to fondle some fine shotguns and
don't mind going out of your way a little bit. The place is called
Fieldsport and the owner Brian Bilinski really knows his stuff. It's
on airport road if you so desire. They let my golden in, surely
they'll let the Lab in.

And Wally World sells great LED lights for 2 for $5.
