Blue Angels

I can hear the Blue Angels warming up for Sea-Fair outside. Always
incredible the BOEING F-18s are here 8/1-2 then its Salinas, Fargo, ND
and Offutt AFB, Neb. for rest of August. They will be at the Reno Air
Races 9/19-20. If you've never seen them check out the schedule on
their web site. They tour thru November then back to Pensacola NAS.

The Blue Angels are an obscene and disgusting waste of aviation fuel.
It reminds me of troops goose-stepping alongside ballistic missiles
in Red Square. Don't we have better things to do with our tax dollars
than put on displays of testosterone fueled stupidity ?

I know its a waste of breath, but here goes. Most, if not all of
their maneuvers are used in combat situations. What they are is a
recruiting and marketing tool, appealing to the testosterone teenagers
in the target audience.
Are they totally necessary? Depends on your point of view. Will you
and I ever agree on this. Not without some good drugs on both
sides.
