Hi,
Thanks for help on how to spool a spinning reel. New at this, so can I please ask another dumb question: I've seen all the links showing how to rig plastic baits using those hooks with the small offset or bend near the eye. Fine, anxious to try it. But, I have also seen hooks, presumably for the plastic worms too, that have a small piece of barbed wire hanging from the eye. I cannot find any pix or how-to's on the web showing the rigging of these. Not even the Mr.Twister or the Lunker City sites seem to have. Surprising. I presume that this is meant to be threaded into the nose of the plastic worm. Right ? Is the rest of the rigging of the hook into the bait the same as for the "regular" plastic bait hooks I initially described ? Do these, I think they are called "Keeper Worm Hooks", offer any advantage ? Or, should I just stick with the regular kind with just the small bend near the eye ? Any thoughts would be most appreciated. I will be doing small and largemouth bass fishing in New England (small stuff). Thanks, Bob |

Yes, you insert the keeper into the nose of the bait.
Then, with the bait held vertically, line up the hook in front of the plastic to determine where you want the point to end up and then insert the point at the appropriate spot to achieve that end. I hope that's clear enough. I use keeper hooks a lot. They definitely lessen the tearing of the bait, thus allowing more fish caught per bait. I'm not sure if there are any disadvantages. ... buy ya some true turns my opnion the best worm hook on the market size 1/0 they are made by eagle claw Tru-Turns are absolutely not made by Eagle Claw. They are made by TTI-Blakemore. Eagle Claw ripped off the Tru-Turn design many years ago for the "Cam Action" rotating hook. They also applied it to a Z bend worm hook where as they guys at TTI did not make it in a Z bend hook last time I talked to TJ about it. http://www.ttiblakemore.com/shop/ You will see here the list of lines TTI-Blakemore owns. |
