Default Oregon Steelhead Report & Pryamid Lake ?

Steelhead fishing got better this week. Yesterday on the Sandy river nearly
everyone with experience or a guide had at least 1 fish to hand. Some people
landed 6. That'd be me.Clackamas was just getting into flyfishing shape and
weather man says more rain comming . Bummer. Eagle creek will be at its best
on the next rain. Middle Rogue was good before the last rain event but will
improve from now through April.I often post reports on my web site if
interested visit me at

Planning a trip to Pryamid Lake NV in the 2nd week of April. My usual Giant
Cutthroat Lake was ruined by our recent drought. At my favorite L.Cutthroat
lake I am used to catching between 25-75 fish per day. About half of the
catch is fish over 5 lbs. 2-4 fish in the 10 lb range are hooked in a
typical day.

Will I be dissapointed with the Fishing at Pryamid Lake ?

If you don't catch any fish you will be.
However, the fish usually come into spawn in the spring, and they are
usually in large numbers near the "nets". Good fishing used to start in
April, but it has been occuring earlier in recent years. Last year there
were plenty of people with 100 fish caught in early March. If the wfether
is warm so that they come into shallower water, you should catch a bunch.

If you want to fish from a boat and need a guide, call Lex Moser, or Mosier
775-782-3474.

Hi Steve,

You are going at prime time on Pyramid Lake, NV, USA, for high numbers but
most fish will be 15 to 20 inches with some larger. There are fish from 5 to
20 pounds plus out there but there are so many small fish that I don't think
you can count on the size you are use to getting.
