Default First Trip of the Year

......well, not exactly a fishing trip, but Mr. Makela and I went up to Cabelas
today.
Fished through bargains galore and the major purchase for me was a St.Croix
Avid flyrod, 9 foot for 3 weight, that I found in the Bargain Room. Not only
did I procure a replacement for the warped rod tube I raffled off at the clave,
but I landed a perfectly functional light fly rod for $108. Mike, on the other
hand, was at Cabelas to purchase raingear. He left with no raingear, but a 4
piece St. Croix Ultra from the same bargain room for $128. New weapons for us
both to unleash on the unsuspecting trout at Penn's(although mine will see far
more duty on the Tully, Big Fishing Creek and the Local Trickle.....a very
sweet, controllable long light rod!!!).

rain gear...!!!??? tell makela he needs to think positive...if it rains
at penns this year, it'll be his fault!! ...and, we'll not be kind. he
needs to concentrate on sunscreen and wide-brimmed hats, dammit.

Now, be fair, Jeff.....I did point out that he eschewed the rain gear in favor
of the
fly rod.

Thank God! That gets me off the hook!

Ahh yes, as fine as a trip that could be had locally on a day like this.
Bargains galore, ya gotta love it. Was thinking about a 6 weight for big
water including the Western Clave but was resigned in sticking with the five
until I saw that rod. A four piece none the less marked down from $310 (it
has a flaw in the grip). Gotta nice flex lite in the bargain bin too, an
excellent day. It has to stay dry at Penn's now as I have to wait til next
year to upgrade the raingear.

Hey Willi! I think I found that fish you missed a few years back, they have
it in the aquarium at Cabela's, a monster!!

Thanks for the company Tom, hope all of our trips are as successful..

That's funny, that was my last justification for buying the fly rod, cause
I wasn't gonna need the raingear...
