Volunteers Sought for Salmon Fry Stocking

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service are seeking volunteer help with the stocking of landlocked Atlantic
salmon fry in the Lamoille and Winooski River watersheds this spring.

The one-inch long salmon fry will be stocked into shallow areas where they
will grow for two to three years before migrating out to Lake Champlain,
maturing and eventually returning to the river as adults.

Stocking is scheduled Saturday, May 15 for the Browns River and the Winooski
River and Saturday, May 22 for the Huntington River. Interested people
should contact Nick Staats at the Essex Junction Vermont Fish & Wildlife
Office at (802) 879-5679 or toll free instate 800-640-3714.
